PARTICIPATION IN THE “EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS’ NIGHT”, KNOWN LOCALLY AS THE “GALICIAN NIGHT OF RESEARCHERS”, HELD ON SEPTEMBER, 2024, in VIGO, SPAIN.
The doctoral candidates Vaisakh Mannalath and Alessandro Marcomini had the opportunity to participate in the “European Researchers’ Night”, known locally as the “Galician Night of Researchers”, held on September 27, 2024, in Vigo, Spain. This event, focused on outreach and bringing research closer to the public, provided an excellent platform for the candidates to disseminate their work and engage with the broader community. As part of the *Scientific Fair*, organized by the University of Vigo and open to the general public free of charge, the candidates in collaboration with the Vigo Quantum Communication Centre, presented an interactive exhibition showcasing the fascinating properties of light.
Their exhibition, titled “Information Flies at the Speed of Light”, highlighted the vital role light plays in modern communication, enabling data transmission over vast distances. Through hands-on experiments and engaging demonstrations, the doctoral candidates facilitated a deeper understanding of the scientific principles behind light, making complex research accessible to the public. This outreach effort not only highlighted the practical applications of their research but also helped to foster curiosity and increase public awareness of the impact of scientific advancements on everyday life.
