Javier Rey, inspiring the next generations at Heckmondwike Grammar School, England, 2025.
On March 12th, Doctoral Candidate Javier Rey had the pleasure of visiting Heckmondwike Grammar School to introduce students to the fascinating world of quantum technologies and invite them to participate at the QSI Art Contest.
He ran two interactive one-hour sessions. The first session was with younger students (ages 13–14), where we explored how quantum technologies work and discussed the potential impact these innovations could have on their everyday lives in the years to come.
The second session focused on older students preparing for their A-levels (ages 16–18). With many of them beginning to think about university and career choices, we took a deeper dive into the wide range of career opportunities in quantum science, with a spotlight on academic research and the growing demand for expertise in this exciting field.
It was a fantastic opportunity to spark curiosity, answer questions, and show how creativity and science can come together—especially through initiatives like the QSI Art Contest.
