Public Talk “Elliptic Curves: Pre- and Post-Quantum”, Bochum, 2024.
Outreach activity by Massimo Ostuzzi.
On December 13th 2024, Massimo Ostuzzi gave a short presentation to a cohort of 30 researchers who work on different aspects of IT Security, such as BlockChain Security, Quantum Security and Distributed Security. The presentation took place at the Faculty of Computer Science of RUB. The title was Elliptic Curves: Pre- and Post-Quantum. As hinted by the title, Massimo started with a brief overview of the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Problem (ECDLP), which is quantumly broken. He proceeded explaining how elliptic curves can still be a useful tool in a post-quantum world, introducing the new hardness assumption called Isogeny Path Finding. He then discussed some intuitive motivations for which this problem should be hard. After the presentation, some discussions followed.
